FGV Europe, the European branch of the Fundação Getúlio Vargas located in Cologne, has opened a representation office in Berlin on November 16th. Prominent attendees at the opening ceremony included the Brazilian ambassador Roberto Jaguaribe, Dr. Hildegard Stausberg of the DGB Kuratorium, and DGB Vice President Bernhard Graf von Waldersee.

FGV President Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal cited the importance of learning from Germany, sharing experiences, and strengthening the relationship between Europe and South America as reasons for opening the office in Berlin.

The German-Brazilian Society is an independent, non-profit cultural organization that aims to promote cultural, social, economic and political relations between Germany and Brazil. One of the society’s main activities is publishing the magazine “Topicos” which focuses on topics related to German-Brazilian relations.
