Promoting International Collaboration for a Sustainable Future
On Wednesday, September 6th, Marco Contardi, Project Manager at FGV Europe supported the technical visit of a delegation from the State of Rio de Janeiro in Milan. The delegation, led by Vice-Governor and Secretary of the Environment, Thiago Pampolha, and Aguinaldo Ballon, President of CEDAE (the State Water and Sewage Company of Rio de Janeiro), embarked on a journey to discover innovative solutions for sustainable development.
One of the highlights of the visit was our tour of Milan’s cutting-edge sewage treatment plant, São Rocco. This facility embodies circular economy principles by reusing treated water in agriculture, harnessing biogas and thermal energy, and producing nitrogen-based fertilizers. It’s an impressive example of environmental stewardship and resource optimization.
We were delighted to be joined by representatives from the International Relations Office of the Municipality of Milan, further emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in addressing global challenges.
In collaboration with MM Spa, Politecnico di Milano, the Municipality of Milan, and the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro, FGV Europe is actively engaged in the REMIRIO project, funded by the European Union. This initiative aims to share best practices in integrated planning and sustainable urban regeneration, promoting social inclusion and fostering a brighter, greener future.
Stay tuned for more updates on our collaborative efforts to build a more sustainable world!
