We are delighted to announce that our fellow Lunting Wu has published a new book titled:
“Belt and Road Initiative in South America. Explaining the Varying Responses“
Since the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) by Beijing in 2013, three-quarters of the world’s countries have engaged with this ambitious project aimed at promoting global physical and digital connectivity. However, a quarter of these countries have either refused China’s offer so far or withdrawn. How do we account for why some countries chose to join the BRI while others do not?
This book explores:
- The impact of the BRI in Latin America
- Chinese resource markets in Latin America
- Country studies of South American nations
This book delves into the varying responses of South American countries to the BRI, a research area that has been scant but is highly pertinent. While great-power competition and systemic rivalry have dampened the appetite of European countries to intensify their ties with China, many developing countries seem rather interested in this initiative.
This book will interest:
- Scholars of international political economy
- Geopolitics experts
- Foreign policy professionals
- International development specialists
Congratulations to Lunting Wu on this valuable contribution to the field! 📖✨
