andrea raccichini, project analyst at FGV Europe contributed as a panelist at the seminar “Just and Sustainable finance” including the pre-launch of the Cefis (Sustainable Finance Center), that took place May 22th and 23th at the Economic department of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
In the panel “Young Research Session”, andrea raccichini presented the article “Financing the Amazon Bioeconomy: public banks, uncertainty, conventions and socio-ecological thresholds” written with Professor Valeria Vinha and Peter May. This work will also be presented during the XVI Ecological Economics Conference to be held in Cruzeiro do Sul (AC), Brasil from 8-12 September 2025.
The seminar was organized by the Centre for Sustainable Finance (CSF) at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, in partnership with the Research Group on Financialization and Development at the Fluminense Federal University (FINDE-UFF), and had the support of the Economics department at UFRJ, the Climate and Society Institute, the Celso Furtado International Center, the Electricity Sector Study Group (GESEL-UFRJ) and the Financial System Observatory (OSF-UFRJ).
It was a great opportunity to exchange ideas on how finance can contribute to sustainable development and the bioeconomy in the Amazon. 🌎🌱
