💡 Exploring Low-Emission Hydrogen and Critical Minerals in Brazil’s Energy Transition

Within the partnership between FGV Europe and FGV Direito Rio, the project coordinator Marco Saverio Ristuccia and the project analyst Andrea Raccichini joined the second meeting of the FGV Direito Rio initiative “Research collective on Advanced Studies in Energy Transition (NEATE)”.

The meeting happened on may the 30th and the debate focused on “Brazil energy transition: low-emissions hydrogen and critical raw materials”.
The institutional opening of the event was carried out by Professor Antonio Maristrello Porto, vice-director of FGV Direito Rio, Professors Romulo S. and Isabel Veloso, coordinator and senior researcher at NEATE, respectively.

The first panel, “Low-emissions hydrogen”, featured the opening speech by Joaquim Levy (Safra), as well the contribution of the following panelists: Gustavo Henrique Ferreira (Brazil Ministry of Finance), Ludmila Nascimento (Green Energy Park) and Maria João C. P. Rolim (Rolim Goulart Cardoso).

The second panel discusses the theme of “Critical and strategic raw minerals in the energy transition”, where Fernando Azevedo (IBRAM – Instituto Brasileiro de Mineração – Brazilian Mining Institute) made the opening speech, followed by Joisa Dutra Saraiva (FGV CERI), Monica Cesar (Vale), Caio Mário Trivellato Seabra Filho (AgĂŞncia Nacional de Mineração – ANM National Mining Agency), Ligia Pinto (Sigma Lithium), Adriano Drummond Cançado Trindade (Mattos Filho) and Marcelo Esteves Almeida (Brazilian Geological Service).

NEATE was founded on the recognition that the energy transition is a crucial process, not only to reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also to ensure energy security, promote economic independence, and create new opportunities for jobs and technological development. It believes that Brazil has the potential to be a pioneer in this process.

FGV Europe is proud to be part of this journey, fostering dialogue, innovation, and sustainable solutions for a cleaner and more resilient future. Thank you FGV Direito Rio, Ministério da Fazenda, Mattos Filho, and Prumo.

Stay tuned for future developments!
