United Nations Course Completion: “Circular Economy and the Agenda 2030”

We are pleased to announce that Sara Pais and Mariana Fleischhauer, Managers at FGV Europe, have successfully completed the Circular Economy and the 2030 Agenda online course offered by the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme.

This rigorous six-week programme focused on deepening participants’ understanding of circular economy principles and their critical application within the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

Throughout the course, Sara and Mariana engaged with theoretical frameworks, practical case studies, and systems-based approaches that highlight how adopting circular economy strategies can contribute to sustainable living within planetary boundaries. The curriculum underscored the importance of shifting from traditional linear models of production and consumption to restorative and regenerative systems that enable long-term environmental and economic resilience.

Key areas of learning included the interconnection between circular economy and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the design of circular business models, the role of policy and stakeholder engagement, and approaches to fostering sustainable lifestyle choices. The participants also explored barriers and enablers to mainstreaming circular practices across sectors.

By completing this course, Sara Pais and Mariana Fleischhauer have strengthened their capacity to champion circular economy initiatives and to contribute meaningfully to sustainable development strategies both within FGV Europe and in broader professional contexts.

Their achievement reflects a commitment to innovation, systems thinking, and practical action in support of the global 2030 Agenda.
