Turning EU regulation into business intelligence

As European regulation increasingly shapes market access, supply chains, costs and competitiveness, understanding regulatory developments has become an important factor for companies operating in or seeking access to the European market.

In response to this evolving landscape, FGV Europe is launching its EU Regulatory Intelligence initiative, designed to monitor relevant regulatory developments and translate them into actionable business intelligence for Brazilian companies.

The initiative combines continuous monitoring of EU legislation, institutional agendas and regulatory calendars with early alerts on relevant regulatory changes, decisions and public consultations. It also provides analysis of potential business impacts, risks and opportunities, as well as access to experts and stakeholders through meetings, seminars and training programmes.

Priority areas

This initiative will focus on key areas of the European regulatory landscape with significant implications for international business.

This first  issue reports on ten developments in EU–Brazil trade, regulation and investment:

The European Union suspended imports of several Brazilian animal products, introduced new steel import quotas, and continues implementing the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and the Deforestation Regulation, both with deadlines before the end of 2027.

Investors from France, Italy, Japan and the United States announced new commitments in Brazilian critical minerals, and Brazil’s Senate approved a national critical minerals law.

Brazilian crude oil exports to Europe rose over the past year, and the European Central Bank confirmed an early-stage study on linking its payment system with Brazil’s Pix.

The EU regulatory environment is complex and constantly evolving. For Brazilian companies, understanding not only what is changing, but also how those changes may affect their businesses, is increasingly important.

Through its presence in Europe, FGV Europe brings together regulatory monitoring, analysis, expertise and stakeholder connections to help companies navigate this landscape.
