Having worked in various fields related to environmental management, Artur Monteiro’s experience ranges from oil spills monitoring and remediation, sustainable architecture, urban and territorial planning to socio-environmental conflicts. Currently, he develops projects concerning the better understanding of international cooperation towards the conservancy of the Brazilian Amazon, especially considering GHG emissions goals, economic alternatives and civil society resilience. Before this post, he worked with land use policies in the Amazon rainforest, water management and threatened species conservation at the Fundação Vitória Amazônica in Manaus/Brazil.
Artur has also worked with the Angolan government for a joint national effort on sustainable cities and for the Sustainability Team of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games Organizing Committee in Rio de Janeiro.
He holds a Masters Degree in Urbanism from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a Bachelor’s in Environmental Management from the University of São Paulo.
