Melina is a global communications expert currently based in Tokyo. She is Senior Associate Advisor at FGV Europe and has 20 years of experience in strategic communication and outreach for academic, governmental, private and non-profit organizations in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America. Her experience living in multiple countries has enabled her to advance integrated communications policies, foster knowledge exchange and build partnerships across the academic, government and private sectors.
Throughout her career, Melina has designed communication strategies for leading think tanks and international organizations. At FGV, she has managed a portfolio of over 300 international events and 80 publications. These activities brought together world leaders and experts to address complex agendas in various fields such as public policy, bioenergy, sustainable development, finance and investment, law, culture, sports and other key areas.
Her recent advisory roles include communication and strategic outreach for UNESCO (project ProHeDev Ethiopia), IDP (Brazilian Institute of Education, Development and Research) and FGV Agro (publications in collaboration with UN/WFP). In the public sector worked for the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and in the early stages of her career was a PR for L’Oréal and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Melina Bandeira has a BA in social communications from ESPM/RJ (Brazil) and holds a master’s degree in business management from FGV EBAPE (Brazil), with an exchange program at Cornell University (USA). Fluent in Portuguese, German and English with business knowledge of Spanish.
